It is only natural that we honor Margie and Jane, celebrate them, their lives, smiles, vibrancy, spirit, in such a noteworthy fashion. The Lipson sisters all love ice skating. Ice skating, a theme, a chord, a center throughout my life.
The number eighteen solidifies the significance and meaning of Celebration of Sisters. Eighteen or “Chai” in Judaism translates to life, and living a life guided by kindness, thoughtfulness, selflessness. Gifts received in multiples of $18 convey a good omen for life. The chosen denomination of tickets of $18 for Celebration of Sisters, as we honor the lives of my beloved sisters and give back each and every year with this special event. Margie and Jane provide me the courage to go out there and perform in front of a large audience that is absolutely terrifying for me! I do it for them, with them beside me. I hope they are smiling seeing their shy sister Judy out there before a large audience. Working on my memoir, digging deep into my life, trying to recall my sister’s lives and memories. The process is extremely emotional yet important to share. If in revealing my story I can aid another individual, I will be infinitely humbled. |

I am eternally grateful for Celebration of Sisters and my cherished sisters who instill a sense of strength, courage, resilience, and confidence to be me. I will always remember my sisters Margie and Jane and I will forevermore be Judy the middle of three girls.
Celebration of Sisters is my bequest to my treasured sisters, to me and to you. The legacies of my dearest Margie and Jane live on in me, my daughters and in all of you who share my beautiful sisters today. There’s not a day that passes by when Margie and Jane do not fill my mind. Years pass but love remains forever in our hearts. |
For more than 20 years, the Lipson family has partnered with Mass General to support its mission to provide compassionate, lifesaving patient care, while advancing innovative medical research and caregiver education.
In 1999 the late Benjamin Lipson and his loving wife, Eleanor, along with their daughter, Judy, established The Marjorie E. and Jane E. Lipson Memorial Fund. The Lipson Memorial fund was created to support The John D. Stoeckle Center for Primary Care and its work in promoting patients' rights through education and advocacy. This family gift paid tribute to Dr. John Stoeckle whose compassionate care sustained Margie Lipson through her very long illness. Today, the Lipson Family’s philanthropy continues through its support of Mass General’s Eating Disorders Clinical and Research Program, which provides the highest quality patient care, clinical research, professional training and public education about eating disorders |

Here is the video from my skate from the grand finale of Celebration of Sisters - I know the sound is a bit squeaky.
I skated to Andre Rieu Edelweiss in honor of my beloved sisters Margie and Jane, each on my shoulder and truly had the skate of my life, a magical performance to mark a decade of Celebration of Sisters to commemorate the lives and memories of my beloved sisters Margie and Jane to benefit Massachusetts General Hospital. |
After a decade and a year, 2022 marked the true finale of Celebration of Sisters. It's been a wonderful ride and a beautiful tribute to my beloved sisters Margie and Jane. We raised over 80K for Massachusetts General Hospital Internal Medicine and Eating Disorder Divisions. My life has changed with publishing a book, and being a grandmother. I am forever grateful to the generosity, kindness, and devotion of many - my heart is full. Stay tuned for the next chapter. |
